As we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, we wanted to take the time to wish you a very Merry Christmas. God bless you and yours during this special time. We’re thankful to work with such good, God-fearing, hard-working, honorable clients. Thanks for making 2011 another great year for On Point Firearms.
And if you’re sneaking out of kitchen and cleaning duties to catch up on e-mail like me, here’s a video we whipped up yesterday. One of my best buddies, Jack, got a new Elcan SpecterDR for Christmas. His AAC 762-SDN-6 just arrived, so I brought it to the range so we could test the whole package. Take a couple of minutes to watch the video— then, get back to work! [click here for the video]
Thanks again for being the best customers we could ever ask for. Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. God bless.
Evan

I know topics like Ghosts and Zombies go over better during Halloween than Christmas, but there’s no denying their popularity. And if you’re shopping for a few last minute stocking stuffers, these items might fit the bill for the shooter on your list!
First up is the sensational ZombieMax ammo from Hornady. Z-Max is cleverly packaged and rebranded V-Max– the company’s famous match-grade ballistic tip ammunition. Instead of a red tip, ZombieMax sports green. The 168 grain .308win version is super hot at 2700fps at the muzzle. It’s a neat gift idea for someone that is into the zombie movie craze. Plus, it’s great ammo to boot.
Anyone with a Glock pistol can improve their trigger pull with a Ghost trigger connector and/or spring kit. They’re available in a variety of different trigger pulls from the 3.5lb Standard, Ultimate, and Rocket models to the 4.5lb Ranger and 5.0lb Tactical. There’s one for every Glock owner on your list. Click here for our selection of Ghost triggers.
Finally, I spoke too soon when I said Monday was your last chance to get one of the HK Umarex MP5-K BB guns. We’ve just received another 10 units, so it’s not too late… yet.

Cease fire, cease fire! Prepare your firearms for inspection. Bench all weapons with their actions and cylinders open, magazines out, and step behind the yellow line.
Those familiar words popped into my head as soon as the box with the new Range Officer 1911s by Springfield Armory arrived at the shop. I thought the RO1911 would shout commands as soon as I opened the box. Perhaps it thought I set up my target incorrectly? Maybe it was going to ask to see my membership card… or tell me a story about how many other guns it owns that are superior to the ones I’m shooting. For a moment, I wrestled with the idea of opening the box, but quickly realized that if this Range Officer had a chip on its shoulder, I could simply send it back to Springfield Armory for repair.
The box opened to reveal a familiar looking carrying case– the same kind that ships with the XDM series. And not unlike the XDM, the Range Officer is outfitted with two magazines, a magazine holder, and a paddle holster– everything a shooter needs to run a course of fire… save for a few boxes of ammo. I checked the dust cover and found no Brazilian markings. Yes sir! This Springfield is 100% Made in USA. In fact, it’s built off the same forged steel frames as the Trophy Match and TRP models. That’s the whole mission of the Range Officer series: to provide a quality platform for competition shooting, without breaking the bank. Sure, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles as its pricier brothers. But it can be easily upgraded at a later date to suit the shooter’s growing needs.
Out of the box, the lightweight speed trigger is set between 5-6 pounds and you’ve got Springfield Armory’s own in-house version of Bo-Mar fully adjustable sights. Plus, the 5″ Springfield Armory barrel is Match Grade, so you know it’s going to drive tacks. The Range Officer 1911 has pretty much everything you need, and nothing you don’t. That makes it a good range officer in my book.

By now, you’re probably recovering from a pretty serious case of the Cyber Mondays. Thankfully, it’s now officially L.W. Wednesday. I’ve got something very special to show you, my friends. It’s a rare bird: 1 of only 130 LWRC REPRs made with the company’s spiral fluted barrel– a feature that slashes barrel weight by a dramatic 20%. This featherweight 16in carbine is a heavy hitter with its 7.62×51mm chamber and 20 round capacity. Shooters can manage the delivery of gas to the REPR’s piston system via a four position adjustable switch. There’s a setting for normal and adverse conditions, plus a setting for shooting with a sound suppressor. The fourth setting shuts the system off completely, allowing the user to cycle the action manually like a bolt rifle. The trigger is a superb two-stage SSA model by Geissele. This is an extraordinary rifle. Please take a look at the photo gallery here and enjoy! Not bad for L.W. Wednesday, huh? Let’s make it a tradition!
Until next time, have a good one and God bless! — Evan
