We'll have to see who decides to fund this operation first. They're still seeking investors for the project. Even if DOD buys these soon, it'll be years before we see a civi version-- unless of course, the military doesn't buy-in to the technology. Then, the civilian market would be the ONLY market. It's still innovative technology. Not really concerned with owning one. It's just really cool to see new, cutting edge stuff in action. Remember, it's on Future Weapons tonight, March 10 @ 2100EST. :)

The Kriss Weapons system is designed to use a Glock 21 magazine. Part of the mentality behind this is to allow officers to use the same magazines & ammo as their duty weapons. The penetration debate is an endless one, and I guess it just depends on what side of the fence you're on. My only concern with this system is that we're talking about a weapon that has 2 rd burst and full auto capability, yet uses a 13 round magazine. A 13 round mag would be expended rather quickly in full auto, and it seems the officer would be reloading more often than if they had a higher capacity weapon. On the other hand, I think this weapon would shine if it were loaded with a 25 round Scherer magazine!

**The Kriss V Weapons System will be featured in April on the Discovery Channel's "Future Weapons." remember, you saw it here first!**

Thanks for the comment, Justin. TDI is still seeking funding (investors) for this project. It's an interesting concept. The final product might not look anything like this. I agree that the .45acp might not be the best choice for this application, but consider that they achieved MOA accuracy with it. That's repectable.

I'd love to see this technology applied on a .308, .556, or 6.8SPC platform. I'm sure we will. Be sure to check out the story covered by Future Weapons in the coming months. But remember... you saw it here first. :)

Before I begin, please let me say thank you for the excellent coverage; you're doing a great service to this community.

Having said that, why would TDI chamber this revolutionary weapon in .45 ACP? It's been thoroughly documented that pistol caliber sub-machine guns offer inadequate terminal performance and are unsuitable for CQB environments due to over-penetration concerns. As such, pistol caliber SMG's are rarely used these days.

TDI would have been much better off chambering this in an intermediate assault rifle cartridge, such as .223. I hope they offer such a chambering in the future.

Also, I can't help but wonder if this technology can be applied to .308 caliber machine guns.
